WINTER SUNRISE
As I lie down, comfy, blankets drawn neck high,
Eyelids heavy, losing the battle between light and dark,
Staring at the TV, trying to differentiate the figures from the scenes,
Unstable, unable to consider real from unreal, the forests from the parks,
Rapidly blinking, steadily thinking, spiraling into dreams,
I rise for a second to shake off the shimmer from my eyes,
Only to weeble-wobble again and again,
Sparring with my conscience trying to survive,
As the TV set signs off and drizzles to a snowy blur,
Psychedelic visions flicker like a neon light, then deep sleep suddenly begins,
I’m swiftly drowning and my mind concurs,
It’s time to release and let the waters flow in,
My dreams blare bright, as the night comes to demise,
A shivering shake, a wide lazy yawn, a chill at the crack of dawn,
Awakening in amazement, to my surprise, what a beautiful, wintry, Winter Sunrise…
