Not Hungry?

Then Jesus said, "I am the bread that gives life. The person that comes to me will never be hungry. The person that believes in me will never be thirsty.

KEY THOUGHT:
Hunger is a powerful motivator. When human beings get hungry enough, they will do almost anything to acquire food. What if we were that hungry for God? What if we were that hungry for God's Bread, his Son Jesus? While we have learned to recognize our physical hunger, so many today cannot identify that empty spot in their souls, the ache in their hearts, as a hunger for God. Only God, through his Son Jesus can truly fill this empty spot. Jesus is the one who quenches our spiritual thirst and satisfies our spiritual hunger. Come to him. Listen to him. Let his words and his love give you life!

TODAY'S PRAYER:
Quench my thirsty soul, O God, and satisfy my spiritual hunger. I have tried to fill the void with diversions and trifles that do not satisfy. Father, only Jesus can fill this empty spot in my soul. Only your Son can sustain me through the challenging days I face. I believe in you, Lord Jesus. I praise you. Amen.

CHRIST'S LOVE LETTER

2 Corinthians 2:17-3:3

Dear Father,

Thank you, Father, that I am not just a peddler of your word, but that I am commissioned by you and that I speak in Christ.

Let everyone who comes to a knowledge of your will through what I teach be a living letter of recommendation, written on that person's heart, to be known and read by everyone.

Let that person be a letter from Christ to the world, delivered by me, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone, but on the tablets of the human heart.

In the name of Jesus I give thanks and make these requests. Amen.

THOUGHT:
Where does your heart live? That's what these verses are all about. It's about where we spend the most time with our hearts. Is there a constant awareness in your life that God is present? Is he the unseen but always present companion in all your ups and downs? Or is God here when it is convenient and gone when things are busy or we feel that everything is going okay? Joy comes from knowing we are never alone. Prayer is the ongoing conversation we have, Spirit to Spirit, child to Abba, human with God. Thanksgiving and joy are the great reminders that we have been blessed no matter what the outward circumstances imply.

PRAYER:
Precious and Righteous Father, thank you for being there, always. Give me a deeper appreciation and a more profound awareness of your presence today. May my life reflect the joy you have given me by saving me by grace. And may my heart always find its home in you. Through the name of Jesus my Savior and friend I pray. Amen.
