Mt. 5:8

There is no life of holiness apart from the Holy Spirit. It is He who imparts power to overcome all that might be out of harmony with God. By faith it is accounted to all believers for righteousness, but holiness only comes from the infilling of Gods Spirit. This promise is to all, but like all blessings from God, must be received by faith, in earnest seeking which refuses to be denied. Ac.2:17-18

The infilling of Gods Spirit was so important to God He made promises concerning it far back in the Old Testament. These promises included soul satisfaction for the thirsty, “I will pour out my Spirit upon thy seed, and My blessing upon thine offspring.” God saw such importance that Jesus died, not for sins only, but that we might be filled. Jesus said, “He that believeth on Me, as scripture has said, out of his inner being shall flow rivers of living water.” Being filled with God’s Spirit brings spiritual worship, psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Ask any spirit filled believer if he or she sings to God and the answer is will be yes.

God’s Holy Spirit brings unity when we walk together in the Spirit of our living God. “And they continued steadfastly in the apostle’s doctrine and fellowship.” “They lifted up their voice to God with one accord.” Disunity among God’s people is evidence of a lack of spirituality and holiness. “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.” If when we see others who walk after the flesh, rather than after the Spirit, it should not discourage us. “To our own Master we stand or fall.”

To maintain a life in the Spirit requires a watchfulness and waiting on God. Jesus never did a thing without praying to Father. The Psalmist sings; “My soul waits only upon God.” There has to be a closed closet door of earnest prayer, a sweet communion, when “with unveiled face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, we are changed into His own image, from glory to glory, by The Spirit of our living Lord.”

Here in the secret place of the Most High, satan sets up his labors to produce restlessness, and with every conceivable distracting thought he would divert us from receiving God’s grace into our hearts. God waits to bestow at the secret place of prayer spiritual life in holiness. Yes; satan must be defeated in the secret closet if he is to be defeated in our daily lives among men. God’s grace flows where it is wanted and desired and that is to a heart after God’s heart.

David had such a heart after God, a hunger and thirst for a drink from a holy God. Jesus has made a way to God, the veil was rent in the temple. The way into the holiest is ours. The baptism of the Holy Spirit given of Jesus is also with fire. This fire reminds us of the presence and holiness of God. Standing before the burning bush, Moses became so conscious of this that he took his shoes off his feet. The ground he stood on, he realized was sacred. //// When just a few moments before his curiosity had incited him to see a mystery as to why the bush burned, but was not consumed. It was when he drew nearer that the holiness of its character, and the sacredness of its Author, gripped his soul.//// Before the Divine presence Moses curiosity melted away into perfect worship. It is the presence of God that we need to sense and value who we are in Christ, and it only can be achieved by God’s Spirit. It is for this purpose we come to Jesus asking for the Baptism with The Holy Spirit and with fire.

When God’s glory came down on Mount Sinai, it was like a devouring fire. “And the sight of the glory of the Lord was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.” Ex. 24:17 Every soul who values the presence of God longs to be filled with His glory. It is His promise to bestow this wealth of blessing upon them. “And the glory which thou gave Me, I have given them.” Know that the character of this glory is like a devouring fire, and in a fire to consume all of which does not reflect the Divine image of Jesus Christ.

A self seeking, self planning, and a multitude of other hindrances, must be consigned to the devouring flame of God’s eternal flame. Never was a blessing so pure, so heavenly, as the glory of God revealed in the Baptism with the Spirits fire. We have been given so much and know so little, but God continues to reveal to everyone who draws near and seeks Him just like Moses did. God’s fire is searching, separating the chaff from the wheat.

As the prophet caught a vision of the glorious Lord, seeing Him in His holiness, he became deeply conscious of his own impurity, and cried out, “Woe is me! For I am undone: because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: For mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of Hosts.”

The life of every Christian is to be continually a life of the Spirit’s searching and purging. “The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out” Lev. 6:13

The Spirit has come to lead into all truth, and to take the things of Christ and reveal them unto us. He leads always into the truth of the Lord’s holiness, His will, and His great purpose for the redeemed. “You are not your own; you are bought with a price.” Now ask; have I made a full consecration to be led of God? Am I willing to follow the way of faith, even where I may not fully understand?

The cup which your Father gives you to drink, are you willing to drink it? The flesh will shrink from it as it seems the human in Jesus did. The will must then take the ascendency, “Not my will, but Thine, be done.” If we draw back, we quench the sanctifying fire. “But we are not of them that draw back unto perdition, but of them that believe unto the saving of the soul.” Do not fear the fire. Look for it.

Seek the Divine fellowship and holiness. By following after and yielding to the great refiner, the soul is brought into richness. “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” May we all as subjects of the kingdom of God yield to the Holy Spirit and that we may be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. “When He shall gather His wheat into His garner.”
